Biography

Professional

Naudia Jawad is the web journalist at The Elkhart Truth in Elkhart, Ind. She earned her master's degree in mass communication with a specialization in journalism at the University of Florida and has a bachelor's degree in business administration with a concentration in marketing.

Naudia has a passion for community journalism and utilizing the web to connect with the community in different ways. She shoots photographs with a Canon 40D — and her arsenal of lenses includes a Canon 15mm f/2.8 fisheye (her absolute favorite), a Lensbaby 2.0 and a Sigma 70-200mm f/2.8, among others.

She likes to look at things from a different perspective and her crazy lenses and unique shooting style allow her to do just that.

She has a firm belief that everybody has a story to tell, and is willing to tell the story if they have someone to listen to them. She would eventually like to write these stories to share them with readers.

Personal

Naudia Jawad was born in the early hours of the morning on a sunny day in April, 1987. It was a Thursday and there was a brisk nip in the air. She doesn't recall all of the details of the day — which is probably a good thing — but she has been told she was the life of the party.

She grew up with an intense love for her friends and family, silly hats and the color pink — especially the color pink. She also owns far too many pairs of Chuck Taylor All-Stars Low-Tops.

Naudia also loves to paint and crochet — she is happiest when she has the chance to be creative and to get hands-on with a project.

In her spare time, Naudia is a referee for the South Bend Roller Girls, South Bend's flat track roller derby league. Being involved in the league has given her the chance to stay fit, indulge in her ever-growing roller derby obsession and network with some truly great people.
